About the Teachers

Ms. ValarieMy name is Valarie Mast and I am part of the teaching team at St. John’s Preschool as the Director/Lead Teacher.  I have a Master’s Degree in Teaching & Curriculum from Penn State Capital Campus.  I received my undergraduate teacher training at Messiah College where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education.  I have taught both preschool and kindergarten children in private and public schools.  My husband Bob and I have four children: 12-18 years old.   We have lived in Carlisle for 20 years since moving here from New York State.  In addition to teaching and raising a family, I enjoy children’s ministry in my church, scrapbooking, and owning a small business.  I have always loved children and especially enjoy their process of learning and discovering the world around them.  I am pleased to have the privilege to share in your child’s learning here at St. John’s.

Ms. Andrea KelleyMy name is Andrea Kelley.   I have my B.S. in Elementary Education from Kutztown University.   I taught for 4 years in second grade until my first child was born and I became a full-time stay-at-home-mom.   My husband Craig and I have 4 children ages 6-13.   I have taught a program at the YMCA for toddlers and I am actively involved in the Children’s Ministry at my church.  I also enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and spending time with my family.  I am excited to be a part of St. John’s preschool!

Ms. Heather RohrbaughMy name is Heather Rohrbaugh.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Messiah College.  I have experienced over five years of substitute teaching in area elementary classrooms.  My husband Tim and I have been blessed with three children (two sons, and a daughter) who are 13, 10, and 7.  We live in Carlisle (where I have lived all of my life).  I love to travel, experience new and unique restaurants, and I love to cook and bake, and shop.  I stay busy keeping up with my kids’ activities, volunteering in their schools, and serving in children’s ministry at my church.  I love to work with young children, especially witnessing the sparkle of excitement in their eye as they are engaged in their learning, and surrounded by their friends.  I am excited to be a part of your child’s educational experience here at St. John’s, and I look forward to all the memories we are going to make together!

We have also recently been joined by Laura Powers. She is a mom of a preschooler who attended St. John’s for two years.  She is a certified teacher and has experience teaching Kindergarten and First Grade in the public schools.  She is current with teaching practices as she has been a substitute teacher in our area schools.   She enjoys working with children and is especially excited to work with our preschoolers.
